The book cover creation process begins with a collaboration between the designer and either the publisher or the author to establish the budget and timeline. The designer then receives a copy of the book and reads it thoroughly. This is a crucial step in understanding the book's content, language, and the author's personality. Next, the designer has a conversation with the author to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the book and the author's vision. Each project is approached with a personal touch, placing a strong emphasis on capturing the author's personality through the book cover. Once the illustrations and fonts are finalized, a draft is sent to the author for feedback and adjustments. Upon reaching an agreement on the final design, the book cover is completed and delivered to the design software. Dominika utilizes various software programs to create book covers, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate.
